We visited on a Monday night so it wasn't exactly a busy night. Don’t forget about our daily HappyHour from 3 to 5 p.m. We had to ask for a bigger container and a bag, which never came so we just left. Cobalt Grille is located at 1624 Laskin Road, Suite 762 in Virginia Beach. He kept on bringing out the fried seafood platter! Then when he packed up the left overs, he tried to squeeze all the food into 2 small containers, and didn't even bother to put them in a bag. Mind you the order was a simple fried shrimp platter. I'm not sure if this was our waiter's first day, but he couldn't get the order right. As for the service, it was definitely lacking. The fried shrimp platter was acceptable - nothing spectacular. A little sweet for my taste but that may be just a preference.
My daughter liked the baby back ribs, which was alright. The filet mignon was dry - both as an entree and in the Tournadoes of Beef* (the entree depicted in the photo). The highly touted Cosmos Firecracker shrimp was salty and tasted like it had been dipped in buffalo wing sauce. Let me just say that my husband likes/loves salt and even he said that the food was too salty. Lets start with the food - incredibly salty. My guess is that other reviewers must have been taken in by the decor which included a fish tank that resembles one of those "petting tanks" with some large fish and a couple of manta rays and some colorful frogs. Thought I was at Outback Steakhouse.I'm not sure how this restaurant has received such a high rating. Flavor was ok, but they served it with fingerling potatoes, which is an odd pairingĬowboy ribeye was very tender but way over salted / seasoned. The oysters were very fresh, but the octopus appetizer was blah One piece of octopus that must’ve been an inch in diameter, so kinda gross to eat. The food is fine, but very pricey for Vero Beach and some if the preparations were very average All of this is unacceptable for a place with NYC prices in a hotel fetching $1000 per night. The picture is a very happy me after my 3rd dozen. The topper is Happy Hour and 9.00 per dozen raw oysters. Very nice view and great outside seating. My girlfriend and I are above average height, yet we felt like little kids trying to eat on a table a few inches too high. I have eaten there at least 20 times over the past two years. The arms of our chairs were terribly scratched and banged up, the seats were old and uncomfortable, and the tables are beat up as well as. Handsome place with a nice view of the beach, but they need to put some money into the furniture. For the record, we were all dressed "appropriately", in dresses.Ĭobalt not on the top of my recommendations list, again. Visitors can enjoy spectacular views of the bay from every table. Park on us Enjoy complimentary Valet Parking when dining at Cobalt or Heatons. The bar will remain open 4PM-8:30PM with a limited food menu. The meals were fine, the runners were very efficient, however, the manner in which we were treated was less than coridal and gracious. Welcome to Cobalt, the Restaurant Come experience coastal cuisine at its finest. Friday & Saturday 5PM - 10 PM Heaton’s Deck will close Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for dinner after happy hour (4PM). I had already given my AmEx to the hostess. Our server asked if we were staying in the hotel or if we would pay with a credit card or cash. We had ordered drinks and appetizers for the table.

We were ordering several full meal items and ala carte items. We offered to pay a non kids menu price, explained the dietary tastes, etc to no avail-until the manager came over-no, we did not wish to have any confrontation! In any case, he generously gave us permisssion. What a surprise when we were advised that the young people must be 12 years old or younger to use that menu. "No problem" according to the person taking the reservation. We asked ahead about a Kids Menu as we had some teens that would not order from the regular menu. Last evening, we called ahead for a reservation for 7 people. Then the conistency of food and service dropped off precipitously. For a period of time it was the "go to" venue for a celebration of. In the 15 years that I have been a resident of Vero Beach, this restaurant seems to have had many cycles.
